KIVIX and IXPlay join NetIX’s peering ecosystem
Sofia, Bulgaria - 5th March 2024: NetIX, the leading global distributed platform for award-winning connectivity and peering solutions, has today announced the addition of the KIVIX exchange in Chişinău, Moldova, and the IXPlay Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Madrid, Spain, to its long list of connected exchanges that sit within its peering ecosystem.
Historically, KIVIX - the second largest IXP in Moldova, hosted in the Trabia facility – and IXPlay – a distributed exchange located in Paris, Frankfurt, and Madrid – were only available in their own cities, however, now in partnership with NetIX, the exchanges, members, and their traffic can be accessed via any of one of NetIX’s 220+ global locations.
These two new IXP additions are just the latest in a series of peering and connectivity improvements and upgrades; in Q3 2023, NetIX added five IXPs: Netnod, Piter-IX, InterIX, InterLAN, and LocIX, and January also saw a new 100G route between Marseille and Milan, an upgraded the connection between Madrid and Frankfurt to 200G, and a new 100G route to strengthen European connectivity between Madrid and Marseille go live.
“Both our members and the exchanges’ members will benefit from us adding these two new exchanges to our IXP ecosystem. Our existing members will now receive all the routes from IXPlay and KIVIX without needing to do anything extra, and peers at IXPlay and KIVIX can access NetIX’s members and routes,” said Dean Belev, VP of Connectivity Services at NetIX. “Our Global Internet Exchange (GIX) service enables networks – regardless of size, location or revenue – to enjoy lower latency, reduce IP Transit costs, and improve performance.”
